i joined FF yesterday(Holloway gym) and thought the staff was really friendly and the the gym itselt seemed very nice and the facilities were good, nice and spacious lockerroom....but now, after reading your horror stories about cancelling the contract I'm rather scared....i was told that after 3 months i have to give them 1 months notice if i want to cancel, how do they justifi not cancelling the contract?
which gym would you recommend then?
It is correct that you must give one month's notice if you decide to cancel your membership, however, to ensure that you have no problems, put your cancellation in writing, then go into the gym and ask for the Admin Manager or Membership Services Manager. Put this cancellation letter in their hands and get them to sign for the letter. This way, they cannot tell you that they did not receive your cancellation letter. Unfortunately, this is how the Fitness First club that I worked for operates. I believe that if more members knew about this website, the site would be inundated with complaints. I have never worked for such a horrible company in my entire life. Good luck to you.
I cancelled by the book and still got screwed. I have a copy of the cancellation form signed by the membership services manager and with the date payments should have stopped but that didn't stop them taking over £100 from my account.
Before I tried to cancel I was reasonably happy with Fitness First, although I did complain because I arrived for two appointments to find my trainer wasn't there (it was that package where you get a couple of personal fitness sessions included)
the facilities were clean and the classes varied but the hassle I've had since trying to cancel means I would never recommend it to anyone

If you have a copy of your "cancelation form" then send it to heaad office with a letter and we will look into this for you.IF you are due a refund then we will contact you and let you know. You have got to understand the Fitness First is a Multinational company and mistakes do happen. I would like to apologise on behalf of Fitness first (i work in Head Office).
