I bought a cereal that had a fitness first free two day trial. I have been using the local council gym for ages and I thought that a private company gym might be better so I thought I would try it.

I got to the gym and the staff just left me to it and didn't even explain how to use the equipment. I didn't mind really as the equipment is the same as the local council gym. I thought the local council gym was more friendly and the instructors seemed more helpful. The shower area at FF did seem a bit better though.

After my day I had a phone call asking me if I want to join. I mentioned that it's a two day trial so I will make up my mind after the two days, but he said if I didn't go in the next couple of days then I wouldn't have two days free trial.

I thought it seemed a bit rude, as I didn't have time to see all the gym before because I went late just before it closed and I didn't know the exact day I would be able to go in for my second day. I was starting to get a bit suspicious about how they treat customers so I did a search and found this forum. I take it that I shouldn't bother joining then?

I haven't been back for my second day of the free trial but I keep getting phoned up by different people about when I'm going back, to make sure they're there.

I'm a bit scared to go back if they give me the hard sell. I might have thought about joining if there weren't such horrible stories about them. I didn't even give them my number apart from when I signed up on the internet for the voucher for the free trial. Should I tell the cereal company who give out the info to sign up for the two day free trial that they hassle people?

This is very poor service from the membership consultant, and certainly not what we would expect. You must bear in mind that unfortunately sometimes we get it wrong. Most of the comments on this site that i have read so far are from people who have not understood or read terms and conditions of the contracts they have been happy to sign into, and dont like what they have been told. We are a business at the end of the day and we do have these things in place for a reason. We will do all we can to help but sometimes obviously we cant please all the people all the time. we have 1.6 million member's in the Uk and are the largest health and fitness club in thew world. If we were really as bad as people on here seem to think we are we would be out of business.
